Citi FM @ 21: “People come and go, but strategy remains same”

Renowned broadcaster and General Manager of Citi FM and Channel One TV, Bernard Koku Avle, has reflected on his remarkable journey with the station, sharing insights into the vision, values, and strategy that have sustained the Citi brand over the years.

Speaking on The Upside Down Show on Sunday, November 9, Bernard Avle took viewers through the evolution of Citi FM from its early days of youthful experimentation to becoming one of Ghana’s most respected media institutions.

“At the time I started, the average age in the newsroom was 22. People may come and go, but the strategy is the same. We have always put our faith in young people. Young people have the energy and willingness; they just need knowledge and leadership. The vision has not changed,” he said.

Bernard Avle, who joined Citi FM as a pioneering team member shortly after its establishment in 2004, has been instrumental in shaping the station’s editorial philosophy and commitment to credible, youth-driven, and impactful journalism.
