According to The Punch report on Saturday, November 8, 2025, the ongoing marital conflict between Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, has taken a dramatic turn as the actress was seen in tears over the arrest of her brother, Samuel Daniels (Sammy West).
In emotional videos circulating online, Regina accused Nwoko of leveraging his influence to target her family. She revealed that her mother, Rita Daniels, had alerted her about a police warrant allegedly issued at the senator’s behest.
“I give up! What was my brother’s offence? Fighting for me? I’ll go back if that’s the only way to free him,” she sobbed in one clip.
Regina further claimed that her brother’s detention has significantly affected her mental health and hinted that she might reconcile with Nwoko if it meant securing her brother’s release.
Meanwhile, a post from the Ogwashi-Uku community called for the dispute to be resolved traditionally, accusing Nwoko of oppressing Regina’s family. However, local elders later denied any involvement, describing the matter as a private family issue.
In a show of solidarity, Regina’s estranged parents, Rita Daniels and Jude Ojeogwu, reunited to support their daughter and vowed to help free Sammy. Another sibling, Sweezzy, alleged that Sammy was being transferred to Keffi Prison due to political influence and accused Nwoko of abusing his power.
While the police confirmed that the case is currently in court, several celebrities, including Mercy Johnson, Mercy Aigbe, and Ruth Kadiri, publicly supported Regina. Critics such as Charly Boy, Dee One, and VDM, however, accused her of exaggerating the situation and called for her to seek professional help.
Singer Seun Kuti defended Regina, attributing the pressures on young women like her to Nigeria’s harsh economic conditions, which sometimes push them into marriages of survival.
