Daddy Lumba’s Family Selects Akosua Serwaa as Widow Over Odo Broni after voting at Manhyia Meeting

At Daddy Lumba’s funeral, the controversy over who should officiate the widowhood rites appears to have been settled. According to reports, Akosua Serwaa, the late musician’s wife who resides in Germany, has been chosen by Lumba’s family to attend his funeral as the official widow.

News of Akosua Serwaa’s selection broke during the family’s Friday, November 7, 2025, appearance before Otumfuo’s Saamanhene in Kumasi, as reported by Angel FM. The family voted on Serwaa and Priscilla Ofori Atta, alias Odo Broni, during their gathering. Akwasi Oppong, a reporter for Angel FM, reports that out of the 19 voters, 17 went with Serwaa and only 2 supported Odo Broni.

Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu was punished two sheep by the Saamanhene upon the invocation of Otumfuo’s great other: one sheep to make Ernestina Fosu feel better about being disturbed and having to take the oath, and the other sheep for his false assertion in court that he had notified Otumfuo of the date of December 6.

While in Manhyia Palace, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu—the patriarch of Daddy Lumba’s family—is penalised for his involvement with Ernestina Fosu, the sister of the late artist. He is fined two sheep for his transgressions. The Angel FM newsreader went on to say that his sources had informed him that Daddy Lumba’s burial will most likely be postponed.
