Ofori-Atta’s lawyer responds to OSP over sabotage claims

Lawyer for former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, Frank Davies, has launched a scathing attack on Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng over his allegations of sabotage of security agencies.

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, had said that his office at the time had no power to prevent the former Minister of Finance from leaving the country, attributing it to a lack of cooperation from security agencies under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government.

‘We know where Ken Ofori-Atta lives in the US, but can’t just show up to arrest him’ – OSP

“We have attracted some flak asking, ‘Why did we allow him to go?’… He left between January 1st and 6th. I know the date, but I’m not going to say it. Who was in power during those few days? And we don’t control the airports. The OSP does not control exit points. Yet, we are criticised day in and day out, being asked, ‘Why did you allow him to leave?’”

“His cousin was president. We didn’t watch him leave. We were powerless; we saw him leave, but we couldn’t prevent it. At the time, if you called immigration, no one would even respond,” he said on the KSM show on November 5, 2025

In response to the claims, Frank Davies heavily criticised the OSP for trying to drag the name of the former president and apportion blame to him for what he asserts was the Special Prosecutor’s failure to do his job.

According to him, Ofori-Atta, before leaving the country to seek medical treatment, had notified both the former and current Chiefs of Staff.

“He is now dragging the ex-president, Nana Akufo-Addo, into this and what is the Special Prosecutor saying? I mean, does he listen to himself? He is laughable. It is on record that before Ken Ofori-Atta left this country, he had notified the former Chief of Staff, who was Frema Osei Opare Addo, and had notified the present Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah. It is a public record before he left the jurisdiction.

“So, now, Kissi Agyebeng who got appointed by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is saying that Akufo-Addo held his hand and prevented him from stopping Ken Ofori-Atta from leaving this country. I mean, are we kids in this country? You people take these guys seriously? I mean, the president who appointed you for a particular office, now that he is not in office, you are saying that this same president prevented you from having Ken Ofori-Atta exit the country when Ken Ofori-Atta was leaving and he had given notice?” he said on Channel One TV on November 5, 2025.

Davies further noted that even at the time Ofori-Atta was leaving, he had not been charged, thereby dismissing the OSP’s claims.

“In any event, had Ken Ofori-Atta been charged? Even if we are taking what the Special Prosecutor is saying on face value, at the time that Ken Ofori-Atta left this country, had he been charged with any offence?

Akufo-Addo, Sabotage: Kissi Agyebeng opens up about how OSP watched Ken Ofori-Atta leave

“Ken Ofori-Atta was walking around this country… What was the Special Prosecutor doing all the while that he was in this country? Now that Ken Ofori-Atta has left, he is saying this? I mean, it is pathetic. I am not sorry for the Special Prosecutor; I feel a lot of pity for him. But if his office is been hounded, he should try and handle the challenges of his office,” he added.
