The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye, popularly known as Abronye DC, has descended heavily on Dr Richard Anane, a leading member of the party, over comments the latter made about him.
Dr Anane, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Nhyiaeso and Minister of Health, had accused Abronye in a recent interview of disrespecting former President John Agyekum Kufuor during a meeting involving NPP executives.
According to Dr Anane, Abronye allegedly challenged or disrespected a submission made by former President Kufuor at the said meeting, prompting the NPP executives present to intervene and apologize to the statesman.
Dr Anane also questioned Abronye’s longevity and contributions to the party, suggesting that he lacked the impetus to make such “unwarranted” attacks on senior members and party elders.
In response to Dr Anane’s comments, Abronye launched a rebuttal, accusing the former Health Minister of corruption and incompetence during his time in public office.
According to Abronye, Dr Anane is not part of the NPP’s National Council because he lacks the requisite knowledge and credibility to serve at that level.
“Dr Richard Anane is not a member of the Executive Council or the National Council because those are places where only knowledgeable people meet and he doesn’t qualify to be there,” Abronye stated.
He further accused Dr Anane of corruption during his days as a medical doctor and alleged that the former minister stole from the state during his tenure in government.
“Apart from becoming a minister and making more money than I have, he doesn’t have anything I don’t have. He hasn’t gone to school more than me, the only thing he did was to steal from the state when he was a minister,” Abronye alleged.
He added that Dr Anane’s claim of having served longer in the NPP should be a matter for debate between the two of them.
“So, for his claim that he has been in the party longer than I have that should be debated between the two of us,” Abronye said.
