Former Hearts goalkeeper Sanni Mohammed defends Benjamin Asare amid form concerns

Former Hearts of Oak shot-stopper Sanni Mohammed has come to the defense of current goalkeeper and Black Stars first choice Benjamin Asare, whose recent dip in form has sparked conversations among fans.

Speaking to Akoma FM, Sanni attributes Asare’s recent struggles to fatigue rather than complacency.

“Benjamin has played a lot for both club and country since last season, and fatigue seems to have set in; that’s why he’s been conceding lately. It’s not overconfidence; just tiredness, and he’ll bounce back soon,” he explained.

His recent form has fueled the narrative that he his not worthy to be Black Stars’ first choice.

Despite criticism following recent goals conceded, Benjamin Asare continues to command the trust of the Hearts technical team and supporters.

He is widely regarded as the club’s most reliable goalkeeper and is expected to start in post this Sunday, November 9, when Hearts of Oak host long-time rivals Asante Kotoko in the first Super Clash of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

Both teams heading into the game as the only unbeaten clubs this season as the game promises to be an epic battle.
