The Managing Director of the State Housing Company (SHC), Mr. John Bawah, has dispelled misconceptions surrounding the acquisition of homes from the company.
He clarified that the sale and purchase of SHC-built houses are open to the general public, emphasising that any individual can own an SHC home through the appropriate application and payment processes without needing political connections.
Speaking on Eyewitness News with host Umaru Sanda Amadu on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Mr. Bawah reiterated that owning a house from SHC does not require knowing any politician.
He further explained that SHC is committed not only to ensuring transparency in its home acquisition process but also to making homeownership affordable for all.
According to him, any applicant who encounters challenges in financing their home purchase can contact SHC’s mortgage desk, which assists prospective homeowners in arranging funding through the company’s partner banks.
Mr. Bawah also announced that under his leadership, SHC has ended the practice where housing prices change between the time of acquisition and final payment, ensuring price stability and fairness for all customers.
