“The driver, identified only as Kwame, was said to have been shot and killed by four armed robbers who attacked him around 5am while he was on his way to work.

“The attackers, riding two motorbikes, confronted Kwame at the Roman School area. At the time, he was walking to a nearby lorry station to pick a vehicle for his journey when the robbers demanded his bag, money, and phone. He resisted and attempted to fight them but was shot in the rib”, the report noted.

An eyewitness said the driver had stopped driving his taxi for a period and was currently working with a contractor on the Kasoa-Winneba Road project.

He reportedly underestimated the robbers, seeing them as “small boys,” which led him to confront them.

Another resident recounted hearing the confrontation but said people were too afraid to intervene because of the gunshots.
