As part of her official mission to support the establishment of Senegal’s National Early Warning and Response Center, H.E. Mrs. Damtien L. Tchintchibidja, Vice-President of the ECOWAS Commission, paid a courtesy visit to the ECOWAS Center for Gender Development (CCDG) in Dakar on 30 October 2025.
Mrs. Tchintchibidja was warmly received by CCDG Director, Mrs. Sandra Oulaté Fattoh, who presented a comprehensive briefing on the Center’s current operational challenges. Chief among these were a critical shortage of human resources and limited budgetary allocations, both of which are hindering the effective rollout of key programs and initiatives.
In response, the Vice-President voiced her strong support for the Center’s mission and encouraged the submission of a formal request to her Office to initiate recruitment, specifically for the role of Accounting Assistant. She emphasized the importance of aligning staffing strategies with the unique needs of each unit within the Dakar pooling structure to enhance efficiency and responsiveness.
Turning to broader program goals, Mrs. Tchintchibidja underscored the vital role of gender equality in regional development. She called for inclusive collaboration between men and women to foster an environment conducive to the empowerment of women and girls. She also urged the Center to leverage ECOWAS’s institutional platforms to drive social transformation and amplify the impact of initiatives promoting equality, justice, and sustainable human development across West Africa.
