Founder of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as “a true matriarch and a beacon of Ghanaian womanhood.”
In a message posted on his X page on Thursday, October 23, Bediako — popularly known as Cheddar — said news of her death had left him heartbroken, recalling her warmth, wisdom, and the motherly affection she often showed him.
“Oh no… my heart is broken. Who will give me those gentle nudges again, those whispered teases wrapped in wisdom, followed by laughter that could lift even the heaviest heart? You were my friend, my mother, and a true matriarch of this nation,” he said.
Cheddar extended his condolences to the Rawlings family, saying he wished he could share in the pain of her children — Zanetor, Kimathi, Yaa Asantewaa, and Princess Amina.
He hailed the late First Lady as a woman of grace, strength, and compassion, whose leadership and advocacy for women and children left a lasting mark on Ghana’s history.
“What a beautiful spirit we were blessed to have in Ghana, our First Lady, our Mother of Strength, our Symbol of Grace. Your elegance, your compassion, your love for children and women, your leadership, and your fashion sense made you more than a First Lady. You became a beacon of Ghanaian womanhood,” Cheddar wrote.
Bediako revealed that he saw Mrs. Rawlings just two weeks before her passing, saying she looked “radiant as ever.
“It’s hard to believe you’re gone, but I know you’re resting in divine peace. Your legacy will live on, in your daughters, in your people, and in the heart of every Ghanaian who was touched by your presence,” he eulogised.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, aged 76, passed away at the Ridge Hospital in Accra on Thursday.
