The former Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He made the announcement in a statement shared on his Facebook page on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

“My fellow patriots, the time has come for me to officially declare my intentions to contest the National Chairman position for the NPP,” he wrote.

He expressed hope that his leadership would usher the party into a new era.

“A new era of disciplined and structured NPP is here. God bless us all,” he added.

Asamoah-Boateng, widely known as Asabee, is a long-serving member of the NPP.

He has previously held several government and party positions, including Minister of Information, Minister of Local Government, Rural Development, and Environment, as well as Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, among others.

He has also served as Member of Parliament for Mfantsiman West.
