Nana Konadu was a true icon

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has extended her condolences to the family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

In a post on her social media page, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang paid tribute to the late former First Lady, stating, “We mourn the passing of our former first lady, H.E. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings. She was a true icon and will be remembered for her service to Ghana. My deepest condolences go to her children and family. I wish her peaceful rest.”

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was born on November 17, 1948, in Cape Coast.

She served as Ghana’s First Lady during two significant periods, first in 1979 and later from 1981 to 2001, leaving a lasting legacy of service and dedication.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed away at the age of 76 at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
