Uzodimma to Attend Yam Festival
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma is set to attend the 2025 yam festival of the Assa Autonomous Community in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area as the Special Guest of Honour. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday.

Catholic Priests now soft targets for kidnappers, seminarians lament
The Old Seminarians Association of Nigeria raised alarm over the increasing abduction of Catholic priests nationwide, describing them as soft targets for kidnappers. The group said many clergy had been kidnapped recently, forcing the Church to pay heavy ransoms for their release.
Its President, Chinedu Francis Akubueze, stated that the trend was disturbing, as criminals wrongly assumed the Church was wealthy. He urged authorities to address insecurity to protect priests and restore safety across the country.
Gov Mbah to Chair NEC committee to overhaul security training institutions nationwide
The National Economic Council appointed Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah as Chairman of a committee to reform training institutions for security agencies nationwide. The move followed President Tinubu’s proposal to modernise and enhance facilities for improved performance.
The committee, which includes several governors and former Inspector General of Police Baba Usman, has one month to submit a blueprint for renovation and modernisation. Mbah’s leadership is expected to drive reforms that strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture.
