Ghanaian gospel musician Kwadwo Ampong, widely known as Great Ampong, has stated that he is prepared to apologise directly to President John Dramani Mahama, even if it requires kneeling before him.
During an interview on Oyerepa TV, Ampong said that although he has released a song titled “Apology” to express regret, he is open to taking further steps to seek forgiveness in person. “I believe President Mahama will hear my apology song, but if given the chance to approach him personally and apologise, I would do it,” he said.
He also noted the difficulty of accessing the President without proper arrangements. “At Jubilee House, you cannot just walk in; someone must guide you. Rushing there would be unwise,” he added.
Ampong mentioned that dancehall artist Shatta Wale had publicly apologised to Mahama, and he expressed his willingness to do the same. “If God allows and there’s an opportunity, I have no problem apologising to Mahama one-on-one, even on my knees. I won’t be the first person to ask for forgiveness,” he explained.
The reason for his apology appears linked to his earlier criticisms of Mahama. Some commentators see this as a calculated effort to get closer to the president, while others question why he had not pursued such a step sooner.
