One injured as Hassan Ayariga’s Toyota V8 crashes at Ashaiman overhead

A near-fatal road accident occurred at the Ashaiman Overhead on Friday afternoon involving a Toyota V8 with registration number GN 76-16 and a commercial vehicle with registration number GS 3642-12.

Eyewitnesses say the incident happened when an ambulance, reportedly transporting a deceased person with a police escort, was driving at top speed while navigating through heavy traffic.

During the process, the Toyota V8, which was also said to be speeding, collided with the commercial vehicle before veering off the road into a gutter.

The driver of the commercial vehicle, Frank Amoah, recounted that he had stopped to give way to the ambulance and its escort when the Toyota V8 suddenly crashed into his car. He said his mate sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

In a separate account, the driver of the Toyota V8 claimed that one of the police escort riders allegedly struck his vehicle while attempting to clear the road for the ambulance. In an attempt to avoid further impact, he swerved but ended up hitting the commercial vehicle.

Citi News has confirmed that the Toyota V8 is owned by the founder and leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga.

Mr. Ayariga said he was on his way to a programme when he was informed of the crash involving his driver. He described the news as shocking and distressing.

Both vehicles have since been towed from the scene, while the driver of the Toyota V8 is receiving medical attention. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
