The government has reimbursed school fees for 142, 440 first-year students enrolled in public tertiary institutions between July and October 2025, under the “No Fees Stress” policy.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), Dr. Saajida Shiraz, disclosed this during the launch of the Free Tertiary Education Programme for Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) in Accra, on October 24.
This initiative aligns with the Mahama Administration’s commitment, as outlined in its manifesto, to provide free tuition for first-year students in public tertiary institutions and free tertiary education for persons living with disabilities.
“We have facilitated academic fee reimbursement from the government of John Dramani Mahama to 142,440 first-year students enrolled in public tertiary institutions,” she stated.
Dr. Saajida Shiraz further revealed that students with disabilities are not required to submit applications for the Student Loan Trust Fund.
She explained that management of public tertiary institutions will facilitate the process through the SLTF portal, to ensure an effective disbursement of their fees.
This is aimed at enhancing accessibility for students with PWDs to enable them benefit from the initiative.
