STMA rolls out 13 newly awarded District Common Fund Projects

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly has commenced the construction of 13 newly awarded District Assembly Common Fund projects in education, health, administrative office refurbishment, water and toilet facilities

Speaking at the sod-cutting at the Sekondi Model School, which will also have a 2-Unit Nursery Block, the Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Frederick Festinous Faidoo, indicated that the projects, which are meant to improve education, health, water and sanitation concerns, would be constructed within a period of 10 months.

“This metropolis is made up of three sub-metros. Takoradi, Sekondi and Esikado Ketan. So our approach is to spread all 13 projects across all three communities or sub-metros.

“For instance, 10% of the common fund is to be used in putting up a chip compound, two chip compounds. We are putting one up at Kansas Road and another at Esheim.

“Now we have sent both projects to Esikado Ketan because that is the constituency that is now expanding. Most of the developments, the new developments are taking place in Esikado Ketan, Esheim, and Manpong areas,” he explained

He also added that the projects, which include a six-unit classroom block, two chip compounds, will cost GH¢13.167 million,

“In all, these projects in total will cost over 13 million Ghana cities,” he added.
