GoldBod arraigns two gold smuggling suspects before court

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has secured the arrest of Abdul Karim Alhassan and Sadique Abubakar, two of the four individuals earlier declared wanted for their roles in an ongoing criminal prosecution.

The men were being sought after for the offenses of gold smuggling, conspiracy to smuggle gold, transportation of gold without license among others.

Both suspects, according to the GoldBod, voluntarily turned themselves in and have since been arraigned before the High Court to face prosecution for their alleged involvements in the gold smuggling syndicate.

According to the GoldBod, the court has granted them bail, but they are yet to meet the conditions set for them.

Consequently, the two men remain in lawful custody pending fulfillment of their bail terms and the continuation of court proceedings.

Meanwhile, two other wanted individuals — Mohammed Afsal Puthalan and Mohammed Refeeq Nandoli (also known as Salam) — remain at large.

The public is urged to provide any information on their whereabouts to the Ghana Police Service or the GoldBod.

The bounty of GH¢1,000,000) per person remains active for credible information leading to their arrest.
