John Jinapor is the Minister of Energy and Green Transition
The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has issued a strong warning against any conduct that undermines Ghana’s national infrastructure or exploits its citizens.
During an official visit to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Jinapor engaged with management and staff to better understand their operational challenges and reaffirm the government’s commitment to reforming the sector.
He cautioned ECG staff against malpractices such as the unauthorised sale of meters and diversion of revenue, stressing that such behaviours erode public trust and sabotage national progress.
Jinapor noted that the government is not only addressing inherited problems but is also implementing bold reforms to ensure long-term stability in the energy sector.

“As minister, I will not tolerate conduct that undermines national infrastructure or robs the Ghanaian people. There will be no shielding, no special treatment, and no exceptions,” Jinapor said.
“This government is not only fixing what it inherited but also making bold corrections to ensure long-term stability in the energy sector,” he added.
While lauding the management of ECG, he noted that the power distribution company has achieved a major milestone. He cited the termination of 202 legal contracts, which has saved the country about US$300 million for the Ghanaian taxpayer.
