VEEP assures completion of Legacy of Hope Paediatric and Children’s cancer hospital

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has assured that government will work with the Catholic Church to ensure the completion of the Legacy of Hope Paediatric and Children’s Cancer Hospital.

Speaking during the Closing Mass of the 2025 Rosary Congress on October 18, 2025, Prof Opoku-Agyemang indicated that development projects initiated by private and religious organizations align with the Government’s vision to enhance the healthcare sector.

“Government will work with the Church because this request is not for personal gain, but for the national interest,” she stated.

She also urged the congregation to prioritize national interest in pursuit of sustainable development.

Her assurance was in response to an appeal by the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, Most Reverend John Bonaventure Kwofie, C.S.Sp., who called for support to finalize the hospital project.

The facility is intended to provide specialized healthcare for children battling cancer and other critical medical conditions.

The hospital will include an Outpatient Department (OPD), a theatre, a radiology unit, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a pharmacy, a medical block, a maternity ward, and a special accommodation unit, once completed.
