Interior Minister receives top honour from Ghana Optometric Association

The Minister for the Interior has been honoured with an honorary membership of the Ghana Optometric Association (GOA) in recognition of his continuous support for eye health initiatives in the country.

The honour was conferred during the Association’s 13th Annual General Meeting held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

The GOA, which boasts a membership of about 500 professionals, pledged its continued collaboration with the Minister on his Annual Free Eye Screening Exercise.

The exercise, which takes place across all electoral areas in the Asawase Constituency, will this year be expanded to cover 12 additional constituencies in the Ashanti Region.

A commemorative plaque was presented to the Interior Minister for his dedicated partnership with the Association.

In his remarks, he expressed gratitude for the recognition, shared personal life experiences with the gathering, and encouraged members to put Ghana first in all their endeavours while serving humanity diligently.

In a light-hearted moment, the Prisons Service Band, which played at the dinner event, surprised the Minister with a birthday song to mark his special day.
