Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has described the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka as “a grace and a gift not just to his family, but to Ghana and the entire African continent.”
Mr. Kufuor made the remarks when Sarah Adwoa Safo, former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya and daughter of the late Apostle, led a delegation of the Safo family to pay a courtesy call on him at his residence in Aburi.
Reflecting on Apostle Safo’s life and achievements, the former President said every individual has a divine purpose, and the renowned inventor and industrialist fulfilled his calling with distinction.
“Apostle lived his life well and told his own story before his passing,” Mr. Kufuor said, commending the unity and strength of the Safo family and noting that the late Apostle “nurtured his children well.”
He recalled his personal interactions with Apostle Safo during his presidency, including conferring on him a state honour in recognition of his contributions to national development, though the Apostle could not attend the ceremony.
Mr. Kufuor also reminisced about attending one of Apostle Safo’s technology exhibitions in Gomoa in September 2024, which he said drew global participation — a testament to how far the Apostle’s work and influence reached.
Pledging to honour the late innovator, the former President said he would attend the 40th Day observance at the University of Ghana, Legon, and encouraged the family to ensure a dignified burial befitting Apostle Safo’s remarkable legacy.
On behalf of the family, Sarah Adwoa Safo expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Kufuor for his continuous support and guidance. She reaffirmed the family’s commitment to upholding and advancing their father’s legacy, adding that they would continue to draw on the former President’s “rich experience and counsel.”
