Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is a former Vice President of Ghana
Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has called for amendments to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) constitution to allow electoral area coordinators to vote in the party’s regional executive elections.
According to Dr Bawumia, although electoral area coordinators currently have the right to vote in the election of the party’s presidential candidate, they are excluded from voting in regional executive elections, an anomaly he believes must be corrected to promote greater inclusion and participation at all levels of the party.
“Today, electoral area coordinators cannot vote during elections to elect regional executives, and I think this should change,” Dr Bawumia stated in Sene West on Wednesday at the start of his national campaign tour for the NPP presidential primaries.

“I will push for an amendment at the next Congress to ensure that our hardworking electoral area coordinators also take part in the elections to choose our regional executives,” he added.
Dr Bawumia’s announcement was met with loud applause from the electoral area coordinators present at the event.
