Man who murdered Royal Cosy Hills Hotel CEO sentenced to life imprisonment

The High Court in Wa has sentenced Elisha Mahama, the principal suspect in the murder of Eric Johnson, the late owner of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel widely known as Jirapa Dubai in the Upper West Region, to life imprisonment.

The convict received the sentence on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

A seven-member jury unanimously found him guilty of murder.

Two other accused persons, Belinda Miller and Kweku Kombata, were acquitted and discharged.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the verdict, Principal State Attorney Saeed Abdul Shakur said, “I’m excited to an extent. The wheels of justice, they say, grind slowly. We may never get Eric Johnson back but at least justice has been served.”

Eric Johnson, a businessman, was stabbed to death at his private residence on February 11, 2024.

He was discovered in a pool of blood the following morning, according to a police situational report.

Suspects arrested in connection with the murder included Dookuuri Fausta, Braimah Kasim, Belinda Miller and Michael Klugey, all employees of the hotel, who were apprehended on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

Two other employees, Favour Nuobe and Kweku Kombata, were arrested the following day, Monday, February 12, 2024.
