Calm has been restored to Manso Nyankomase in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region after violent clashes between residents and military personnel left five people injured.
The confrontation, which occurred on Monday, October 13, stemmed from a dispute over the reclamation of a mining concession in the area.
Residents, angered by the presence of the soldiers, burnt tyres and chanted for justice while calling for government intervention.
The protest disrupted economic activities in the community for several hours.
According to reports, the soldiers were deployed to the area to enforce a government reclamation directive, which the community members allegedly resisted.
However, some residents accused the military officers of using excessive force during the operation, describing the incident as an act of intimidation.
In response, residents staged another protest on Tuesday, October 14, to register their displeasure over the alleged brutalities and to demand accountability from the authorities.
But, as of now, calm has been restored and the community members are going about their duties.
