Counsellor and motivational speaker Charlotte Oduro has come clean about her shift in opinion on women’s makeup, something she had previously criticised harshly. “Only a fool doesn’t change their mind,” the outspoken counsellor said candidly of her decision to begin wearing cosmetics, explaining that it is a product of her own personal development, wisdom, and maturity.
Counsellor Oduro clarified that her prior beliefs stemmed from a narrow perspective on self-expression and personal hygiene. She held the view that women who applied makeup were more concerned with their outward appearance than their inherent goodness. But as time went on, she realised that the right makeup may boost self-esteem and appearance without masking one’s natural features. Putting on makeup was seen as a sign of being insincere or too worldly when I was younger and still in the ministry. But my perspective has evolved to see things otherwise. According to her, a lady can have a holy appearance.
Holding tenaciously to outmoded views impedes progress, the counsellor said, adding that personal transformation is an inevitable aspect of living. Wisdom teaches you to adapt, but people will always gossip. “Your heart and how you treat others are more important than whether you wear makeup or not,” she said.
By stating that people are frequently criticised for doing what makes them feel comfortable and confident, Charlotte Oduro likewise encouraged women to accept change without worrying about being judged. Now that I know that taking care of myself is not a sign of vanity, I apply makeup. According to her, it’s all about embracing who you are as a person, as created by God.
She ended by urging her followers to embrace, rather than mock, the process of self-improvement. “Everyone here is developing and learning. Just because I was previously against wearing cosmetics doesn’t imply I can’t now. The message she left behind was one of self-awareness and the ability to evolve—”Only a fool never changes their mind,” she asserted with conviction.
