A member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communication team, Ellen Ama Daaku, has reacted to the criminal charges filed by the state against the former top directors of the National Service Authority (NSA), Osei Assibey Antwi and Gifty Oware-Mensah.
According to her, the charges against the two individuals, with Osei Assibey Antwi facing 14 counts for his alleged role in financial losses, and Gifty Oware-Mensah facing 5 counts, including stealing, and money laundering, do not seem to be in their favour.

She raised concerns about the amount of money the two individuals have allegedly been accused of misappropriating, adding that it is only right for them to defend themselves in court.
Speaking on GH One on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, she said, “… When you read the charge sheets, it definitely doesn’t look too good. So, I’m very happy that they have the opportunity to defend themselves. The moneys are huge. We are talking about almost GH¢700 million. They have to defend themselves.”
Ama Daaku, in her view, maintained that the court action initiated against the two former appointees provides them with the opportunity to defend themselves and possibly clear their names through the court’s verdict.
“I don’t think it’s much ado about nothing to be slapped with such cases as a Ghanaian, and it’s a dent on your image. So, you have the opportunity and in fact you have the mandate to go to court and defend yourself. These rumors have been going around for quite a while about the former administrators of the National Service; so for me, I just think that it’s right that they’ve been given the opportunity to go and defend themselves. Knowing the two of them, like I do know them, they will defend themselves,” she said.
“If truly they have taken our money, as for the jail it’s there for us all but if they have not, I think we should also give them a very fair trial and let them defend themselves,” she added.
The two, former Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Osei Assibey Antwi, and former Deputy Executive Director, Gifty Oware-Mensah, have been accused in a corruption scandal that allegedly defrauded the country of about GH¢653 million.

In two separate court documents filed at the High Court in Accra, the state accuses the former Executive Director, Osei Assibey Antwi, and the former Deputy Executive Director, Gifty Oware-Mensah of orchestrating two distinct schemes that siphoned public funds through “ghost” service personnel and fraudulent bank loans.
