The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Nigeria, Cameroon, DR Congo, and Gabon will contest the African playoff tournament to determine the continent’s final representative for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The four nations finished as the best second-placed teams in the group phase of the qualifiers and will now face off in a mini-tournament to be hosted in Morocco in November 2025.
The semifinals are scheduled for November 13, with the final to follow on November 16. The winner will advance to the inter-confederation playoffs in March 2026, where they will compete with teams from other continents for a place at the World Cup.
The tournament’s nine automatic African qualifiers, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde, South Africa, Senegal, and Ivory Coast, have already booked their tickets to next year’s expanded finals in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
