Manso Nyankomase residents protest after five injured in military clash

Residents of Manso Nyankomase in the Amansei South District of the Ashanti Region staged a protest on Tuesday following a violent confrontation with military personnel that left five people injured.

The demonstrators burnt tyres and chanted for justice, demanding government intervention. Their action disrupted economic activities in the community for several hours.

The incident reportedly occurred on Monday, October 13, 2025, when some residents clashed with military officers during a reclamation exercise on a disputed mining concession at Manso Nyankomase.

According to eyewitnesses, military personnel stormed the community to enforce a directive on the reclamation exercise. However, the move was met with resistance from residents who claimed they had not been informed about the operation.

Some residents accused the soldiers of assaulting community members without provocation, describing the incident as “unlawful intimidation.”

The clash resulted in multiple injuries, with five people reportedly sustaining varying degrees of wounds.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
