Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has stated that he is not willing to apologise to any pastor he has criticised in the past, insisting that his actions were meant to correct wrongdoing within the church.
Speaking to members of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church over the weekend, Agyapong explained that his criticisms were not attacks on the church but were aimed at exposing loopholes and misconduct he observed among some pastors.
“Someone said I should apologise to some of the pastors I spoke against. But I said that if I apologise to them, it means I won’t lead the country truthfully if I become president.
“Some of these pastors have come to my house to apologise. If they had done the right thing, would they have sent people to my house to apologise?” he said.
He recounted instances where some pastors engaged in unethical practices, including illegal electricity connections and property disputes.

The former Member of Parliament for Assin Central further noted that his confrontations helped to correct certain misconduct among some pastors who were allegedly duping church members and engaging in fraudulent activities.
He added that secretaries of some of these pastors had personally visited him to apologise for their superiors’ behaviour, stressing that his decision not to apologise is based on principle and not politics.
“One of them was doing an illegal connection, and I made sure the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) disconnected the lights until he paid his bills.
“Another one had taken someone’s property, and I ensured the property was returned to its rightful owner. So, it is not today or tomorrow that I will apologise to any fake pastor. And it is not because I want to be president that I will go and apologise. I am not an antichrist, I believe in God,” he stated.
It may be recalled that Kennedy Agyapong previously launched a crusade to expose what he described as “fake pastors” in the country.
Among those frequently mentioned on his Hot Seat show on Net 2 TV were Prophet Nigel Gaisie, leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel, and Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder and leader of International God’s Way Church, among others.
