GTEC orders Traditional Medicine Council Registrar to provide proof of academic title

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has directed the Acting Registrar of the Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC), Yakubu Tobor Yusuf, to clarify his use of the academic title “Dr (MH).”

According to GTEC, the Commission has not granted approval for the use of the title.

In a letter addressed to Yusuf and copied to the Chief Director of the Ministry of Health, GTEC stated, “The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has taken note of your use of the academic title ‘Dr (MH),’ specifically referring to yourself as Dr (MH) Yakubu Tobor Yusuf.”

The Commission instructed Yusuf to provide the necessary documentation to verify the title.

“Should you be unable to provide the above documentation, you are required to immediately cease the use of the title ‘Dr’ in all forms and representations. You must also provide verifiable evidence confirming its removal from all relevant platforms,” the letter added.
