Abronye DC Seeks Presidential Protection Over Alleged Death Threats
The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has announced plans to formally petition President John Dramani Mahama for personal protection following alleged death threats he claims to have received in recent weeks.
In an interview reported by GhanaWeb, Abronye disclosed that the threats are believed to be linked to his outspoken stance on politically sensitive issues. According to him, the situation has escalated to a point where he feels compelled to seek direct intervention from the President, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces.
“This is not a political move,” Abronye stated. “It is about national security and personal safety. I’ve always been vocal, but this time I fear for my life, and I’m taking steps to ensure I am protected.”
He revealed that the threats have been officially reported to the police and expressed optimism that the appropriate authorities will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Abronye also urged law enforcement to act swiftly and decisively to avert any potential harm.
“Disagreements in politics should never lead to threats or violence,” he emphasized, calling for peace and civility in national dialogue.
Abronye DC, well known for his hard-hitting and often controversial political commentary, has frequently found himself at the center of public debate. His decision to seek protection from the President has sparked mixed reactions across social media platforms. While some Ghanaians have commended his courage in taking precautionary measures, others have questioned the intent behind his appeal, suggesting it may have political undertones.
Nonetheless, the situation underscores ongoing concerns about political tolerance and personal security in Ghana’s increasingly heated political environment.
