Mamprugu Youth, Binduri elders demand action over rising insecurity

The Mamprugu Youth Association, Binduri Chapter, and the Concerned Elders of Binduri have called on the government to take urgent steps to restore peace and security in the Gumyoko communities of the Binduri District, following what they describe as the persistent killing of innocent residents in the area.

At a press conference held in Walewale in the North East Region, the groups urged the government to establish permanent military and police posts in the affected towns to ensure a rapid response to security threats.

They also appealed for the implementation of a more effective and reliable military escort system from Bolgatanga to Bawku and Binduri, with a clearly defined and publicly accessible timetable to facilitate safe travel planning for residents and commuters.

The groups further called for the imposition of a strict dawn-to-dusk curfew in all conflict-prone communities within the Binduri District, stressing that such a measure would help curb the rising lawlessness and restore public confidence and safety.

They expressed deep concern over what they described as “constant and targeted attacks” in the area, which have reportedly claimed several lives in recent weeks, and urged authorities to act swiftly to prevent further loss of life.
