Lead suspect in Ahmed-Hussein Suale’s murder case discharged

The Madina District Court has discharged Daniel Owusu Koranteng, lead suspect in the murder case of investigative journalist, Ahmed-Hussein Suale.

According to a report by 3news.com, the prosecution, led by Nana Afua Bamfoa Bamfo, informed the court on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, that, “They had been directed by the Attorney General, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, to discontinue the case.”

Subsequently, the presiding judge, Susan Nyarkotey, then discharged Daniel Owusu Koranteng and disposed off the case.

Owusu Koranteng was arrested followed joint investigations by the FBI and Ghanaian law enforcement authorities.

He was charged with abetment of crime and murder in connection with the death of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.

Owusu Koranteng, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Prosecution alleged that he led two other alleged culprits currently at large to the home of Ahmed-Hussein Suale, where he was eventually shot and killed by unknown assailants.

Suale was a member of the Tiger Eye PI investigative team led by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

He was shot and killed by unknown assailants in January 2019.

His death sparked national and international outrage, with demands for justice from press freedom advocates and human rights organisations.
