The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has completed its balloting exercise to determine the order of presidential aspirants on the ballot paper ahead of its January 31, 2026 presidential primary.
The exercise, conducted in collaboration with officials of the Electoral Commission (EC), was supervised by the NPP’s Presidential Elections Committee and attended by representatives of all five aspirants.
Following the draw, Ken Ohene Agyapong, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, picked the number one position on the ballot.
Dr. Bryan Acheampong, MP for Abetifi and ex-Minister for Food and Agriculture, took the second position, while former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia drew the third slot.
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, ex-Minister for Education, will appear fourth, with Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, former NPP General Secretary, taking the fifth position.
In a statement signed by William Yamoah, Secretary to the Presidential Elections Committee, the party commended all aspirants, their representatives, and EC officials for their cooperation and orderly conduct during the exercise.
The Committee reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to transparency, fairness, and the highest democratic standards in overseeing the presidential primary, which is expected to be one of the most hotly contested in the party’s history.
The January 2026 contest will determine who leads the NPP into the next general election.
