Nurse queried over alleged insults against Health Minister

The management of the Nkenkaasu District Hospital in the Ashanti Region has issued a query to a staff nurse, Ms. Bernice Aboagye, for allegedly using offensive and scandalous language against the Minister of Health in a video circulating on social media.

In a letter dated October 10, 2025, and signed by Dr. Samuel Freeman Mensah, the Medical Superintendent, the hospital said it had received several calls from concerned Ghanaians expressing displeasure over the videos.

The videos reportedly captured the nurse making unprintable remarks about the Minister.

The hospital described Ms. Aboagye’s conduct as a violation of the Ghana Health Service’s Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures. Specifically, the letter cited:

  1. The use of inappropriate and rude language towards the Minister of Health, contrary to Section 8.1(c) of the code.

  2. The use of abusive words against the Minister, in violation of Section 8.1(1).

  3. Tarnishing the corporate image of the Service and bringing its name into disrepute, contrary to Section 4.1(d).

Ms. Aboagye has been directed to respond to the query by October 24, 2025, explaining why disciplinary action should not be taken against her.

The hospital attached copies of the videos for her review and emphasised that such conduct undermines the image of the Ghana Health Service.
