The late Ernest Kumi (L) and Eric Adjei, were best friends
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Eric Adjei, has eulogised the late Ernest Kumi, former Member of Parliament for Akwatia, dedicating his recent call to the Ghana Bar to his memory.
Adjei, who was part of 824 others officially called to the Bar on Friday, October 10, 2025, expressed mixed emotions following the milestone achievement.
While proud of his accomplishment, he expressed sadness over the absence of his close friend, Ernest Kumi, whom he had shared many memories with.
Kumi, who was also a student at the Ghana School of Law, died shortly before the results of their final examinations were released.
Speaking exclusively to GhanaWeb on Friday, October 10, 2025, Eric Adjei said, “I’m excited but I’m a bit sad. During the preparation of the exams, my best friend Ernest Kumi, Akwatia MP, and I were all staying at GIMPA together and we normally used the same car for the exams. It’s rather unfortunate that he also passed the papers but today he is not alive. So, wherever he is, may the good Lord keep his soul for me.”

Adjei added that the bond he shared with the late lawmaker, Kumi, extended beyond politics and the classroom, recalling memorable moments with him before his death.
“I dedicate it to him. I would have been here with him because we were together everywhere but today, he is not here with me. The pain is passing law school exams, and I dedicate my own to him wherever he is. May his soul rest in peace,” he added.
The late Ernest Kumi died at the age of 40.
