Black Stars must avenge past defeats against Comoros

Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has expressed confidence in the Black Stars ahead of their crucial clash with Comoros on Sunday, October 12, in the final qualifying match for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The match, which will determine Ghana’s position in the group standings, comes at a time when Comoros have recently registered victories over the Black Stars in previous encounters.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One Newsroom, Mr. Adams said the team is fully prepared and motivated to secure all three points.

“It’s not just me; I believe that every Ghanaian expects the team to deliver tomorrow, October 12. We’re not going for the least points. We don’t think that we should slip points with Comoros this time around,” he stated.

The Minister added that while the head coach, Otto Addo, has downplayed talks of revenge, the team is determined to make amends for past defeats.

He further noted that Ghana currently holds an advantage in goal difference and sits at the top of their group, emphasising that “nothing less than victory” will satisfy the expectations of Ghanaians.

“I have heard the coach [Otto Addo] say that he has heard people talk about revenge, but he doesn’t see that, but hopes they win. We think that we must avenge. This is an opportunity for the players to be true to the team.

“Especially knowing well that they come into this game with a lot of advantage in goal difference, they are at the top of their group. We expect a good game, we expect victory and nothing less,” Mr Adams said.
