Two men jailed 15 years for robbery

The Gbetsile Circuit Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Eleanor Kakra Barns Botchway, has sentenced two men to prison for 15 years each in hard labour for robbery.

The two, Nicholas Tetteh and Joseph Tetteh, were sentenced after pleading guilty to the charge of robbery.

The two would also be trailed for rape upon the receipt of advice from the Attorney-General’s Office.

A statement from the Tema Regional Police Command signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs, stated that the robbery and rape incident occurred on September 27, 2025, at Okushibli, along the Apollonia-Afienya road.

It noted that the victim, a 19-year-old hairdresser, hired a motor rider, Nicholas Tetteh, to take her to Afienya, adding that on the way, the accused conspired with two others, including Joseph Tetteh, to attack her.

According to the police, the victim was dragged into a nearby bush, where she was sexually assaulted by two of the suspects, and her iPhone XR and handbag containing GH¢150.00.

The case was reported to the Zenu-Atadeka District Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), where a statement was taken and a medical report form was issued to her for examination and treatment.

It added that the suspects were later arrested and charged with robbery and rape before the court.
