Black Stars are well resourced, must beat CAR – Sports Minister

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, says the Black Stars have been fully resourced and must secure a convincing win against the Central African Republic in their crucial World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, October 7, ahead of the game, Mr. Adams stressed that much is at stake and nothing short of victory will be accepted.

“I expect the Black Stars to do nothing but win and win convincingly because we need that win to safeguard our presence in the US, Canada, and Mexico for the World Cup,” he said.

He added that the government has made the necessary investments to ensure the players are well-prepared and comfortable going into the match.

“We’ve invested heavily in everything that they need to make sure that they are comfortable to be able to do what it is that they are doing,” he added.

Mr. Adams also confirmed that the team has no injury concerns and praised the players’ recent performances in their respective clubs, expressing confidence that they will play as a unit to secure the needed result.

A win for Ghana against the Central African Republic on Wednesday October 8 could seal qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, provided Madagascar fail to beat Comoros in the other Group I fixture.

The Black Stars arrived in Meknes on Tuesday after completing their final training session at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca.
