MP for Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Constituency and Ranking Member of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Samuel Atta Mills, has issued a scathing rebuke to an internal auditor of the Nima Polyclinic following the discovery of several financial irregularities during a committee sitting.

The incident, which was captured on a viral video showed the legislator, visibly angered by the auditor’s demeanor.

He accused the auditor of failing to provide proper documentation for payments, revenue losses, and other unrecorded expenditures.

“It does not smell good. And the problem is, it’s an internal audit. I’ve given him 48 hours to provide this information to the auditors. If not, he’s going to…,” Atta Mills was heard saying.

His anger was further fueled when he noted the auditor joking with his colleagues and smiling, leading to the threat.

“Look, sir, I can wipe that smile off your face right now. You think we are joking here? You pay car maintenance allowance to people and you don’t have any information on file,” he fumed.

He further directed the Director General of the Ghana Health Service to refer the matter to law enforcement agencies.

“Either you get the police involved or EOCO involved, because it doesn’t smell good,” he added.

The committee expressed grave concern over the lack of accountability in the facility’s financial management, particularly regarding payments for vehicle maintenance without supporting records.

The Director General, in response, assured the committee that he would personally follow up on the issue, promising to report back within 30 days.
