A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for the Fomena constituency, Akwasi Nti, has issued a stark warning to the party’s national leadership, cautioning that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is rapidly gaining the trust of electorates in the Ashanti Region through “humility.”

In a widely circulated post on X on October 3, 2025, Nti expressed deep concern over the political landscape in the NPP’s stronghold, citing the approachable demeanor of certain NDC figures as a key factor in their growing popularity.

Nti specifically mentioned NDC figures like Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi (known as ‘Zuba’) and the Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene.

“Look at Zuba [Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi], we are all contemporaries, we went to high school around the same year…Lawyer Evans Amankwaa…We all have the same line of thinking but they are using humility to gain popularity in the Ashanti Region,” Nti stated.

He further drew a contrasting comparison, urging the NPP to observe how the youth actively follow the Ashanti Regional Minister, suggesting a failure by his own party to connect with the populace.

The former chairman dismissed the importance of elitist communication in governance, arguing that the NPP needs to prioritise practical common sense over academic proficiency.

“Do you think a country is governed by English grammar… English language does not mean anything…it is home sense that we must tap into to govern the nation,” he stressed.

Akwasi Nti lamented what he sees as a lack of mentorship and necessary caution from the NPP’s elders to the younger generation within the party.

“If we were applying home sense in the party, the elders in the party would have called the young ones in the party to sit up as their actions would be detrimental to the future of the party…I feel really sad,” he said.

He called on the party leadership to immediately address its relationship with the grassroots or risk serious electoral consequences in the region.
