Ghana Premier League title holders Bibiani GoldStars returned to domestic action on a winning note, edging Swedru All Blacks 1-0 at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The victory in the matchday four fixture marked the Miners’ first league appearance in two weeks, following their CAF Champions League campaign against Algeria’s JS Kabylie, which ended in a 7-0 aggregate defeat.
Nkoah’s goal, a scrappy effort just after the halftime break, proved decisive as it earned GoldStars all three points.
The result means the champions maintain a 100% record in the league after two matches, having opened their title defence with a 2-1 home win over Bechem United.
All Blacks created several chances to find the equaliser but were denied by resolute defending and superb goalkeeping from the visitors.
Late in the game, the woodwork prevented Samuel Atta Kumi from doubling GoldStars’ lead after the hosts were punished for another defensive lapse.
Swedru All Blacks will next face Samartex, while Bibiani GoldStars take on Asante Kotoko in their next Premier League outing.
