The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, has spoken publicly for the first time after his swearing-in as a Justice of the Court of Appeal.

In a media interview on October 2, 2025, after the swearing-in ceremony, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, known in private life as Justice Daniel Mensah, noted that he is competent enough for his new position.

Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II explained that he has served as a High Court judge for almost 15 years, adding that he can be counted as one of the longest-serving judges of the High Court.

According to the Dormaahene, President John Dramani Mahama would not have appointed him as one of the 21 newly sworn-in justices if he weren’t qualified.

“Normally, the president appoints on the advice of the Judicial Council. I believe that if I were not competent, if I have not been there for long, if I don’t have the competencies.

“If I am not mistaken, out of 142 judges of the High Court, if I am representing them as the senior-most on the Bench, it tells you probably I have even been overlooked. I have been a High Court judge since 2010, for 15 years. If it’s getting to me, it’s good that I have been recognised,” he said.

The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, who is also the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, also assured Ghanaians and the president of upholding the status quo.

According to him, there would be no room for failure, hence they would ensure to treat every case before them with fairness.

“I have been on this job for 28 and a half years. So, having been on the Bench, he has tasked us to ensure that cases do not delay, that we should ensure that justice is dispensed to all manner of people, no matter the background from which they come.

“So, it’s a huge responsibility, but I want to assure the public that we dare not fail. We will ensure that we work together with his Lordship,” he added.
