Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo is the Hohoe MP
A Member of the Information and Communications Committee, Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, has criticised the Minority in Parliament over its demands for the dismissal of Samuel Nartey George regarding the DStv price reduction impasse.
According to him, the Minority’s demands are unnecessary, explaining that Sam George acted in the interest of ordinary Ghanaians, hence securing a good deal and a price reduction package for the citizenry.

“… We went into a negotiation with DStv. Yes, there has been a lot of media backlash, but at the end, what has been the outcome? It has been reduced. I was paying GH¢370 for compact but today, per the outcome of the negotiations, I’m going to pay GH¢170. Whether it is promotion, or free, there has been a reduction. It is what Ghanaians want,” he said in a Metro TV interview on October 2, 2025.
Tsekpo, who is the Member of Parliament for Hohoe, questioned whether the Minority members would not benefit from the price reduction, describing their actions as ‘witchcraft’.
“They put us there as leaders, not to (sic) over them, but to do things that will be of interest to them. The MP who is making that noise, exhibiting his incompetency to the whole world, is he not enjoying the reduction?
“The question I want to ask is, if it is not witchcraft, how can a sitting MP tell his constituents that the minister who ensured that they are paying GH¢190 for DStv over GH¢370 should be sacked? It doesn’t make sense,” he added.
His response follows the Minority’s calls for Sam George to resign or be sacked by President John Dramani Mahama.
Addressing the press, on October 2, 2025, the Deputy Ranking Member on the Communications and Information Committee, Charles Asuako Owiredu, stated that the actions of the minister violate the code of conduct provided by President John Dramani Mahama for all his appointees.
The Minority further argued that the minister’s approach, ranging from demands for a reduction in DStv’s prices, to the imposition of daily fines, which they described as ‘arbitrary,’ poses a serious threat to the integrity and stability of the country’s communications industry.

“By adopting an arbitrary decision-making posture, the minister is also denying regulators such as the NCA the opportunity to perform their work according to law, which clearly threatens the growth of this sensitive industry. His actions also signal a breach of the president’s code of conduct that requires candor and respect to all persons,” Owiredu said.
