The group was led by 20 constituency youth organizers in the Ashanti region
The youth of Ghana, led by a strong delegation from the Ashanti Region, have declared their support for Dr Bryan Acheampong as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 general election.
The group was led by 20 constituency youth organizers in the Ashanti region.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Kumasi, described by organizers as the “political nerve centre” of Ghana and the stronghold of the NPP tradition.
The gathering brought together regional executives, constituency leaders, polling station workers, and hundreds of young party members who rallied under a call for unity and visionary leadership.
Speaking on behalf of the youth, the conveners emphasised that Acheampong embodied the temperament and conciliatory spirit needed to prevent post-election divisions within the party.
“Already, emerging rivalries among aspirants portend a perilous path toward fragmentation if not carefully managed,” the statement noted.
“But in the towering figure of Dr Bryan Acheampong, we discern the only candidate who can mend divisions, heal wounds and forge a unified party machinery.”
The youth group cited several achievements under Dr Acheampong’s leadership, including: The launch of Planting for Food and Jobs Phase II (PFJ 2.0), which introduced a comprehensive value-chain credit system for farmers, expansion of irrigation projects to ensure all-year farming and food security, reforms at COCOBOD that improved cocoa pricing and protected farmers’ livelihoods, and his role as Chairman of the Côte d’Ivoire–Ghana Cocoa Initiative, which strengthened Ghana’s position in global cocoa negotiations.
They also mentioned interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic that supported rural livelihoods under the ESRF programme and praised Dr Acheampong’s record in education and skills development, pointing to scholarships, vocational training and infrastructure support across schools.
In his constituency of Abetifi, initiatives have ranged from boreholes and health programmes to NHIS enrollment and entrepreneurial support for apprentices.
Dr Acheampong’s business ventures were also highlighted, particularly Rock City Hotel in Kwahu-Nkwatia, touted as one of Africa’s largest hospitality projects.
The hotel has already created hundreds of jobs while sustaining local businesses across the hospitality value chain.
The conveners framed their endorsement as a call to action for NPP delegates, executives, and polling station officers nationwide.
“We require a leader with competence to govern, charisma to inspire, discipline to instill confidence, delivery to proven credibility, and neutrality to unify the party after internal contests. That leader is Bryan Acheampong,” the youth declared.
The endorsement was wrapped in symbolism, with Kumasi serving as the launchpad for what supporters described as a national movement.
“He is the architect of unity, the custodian of youth empowerment, and the steward of agricultural transformation,” the statement concluded.
As drums rolled and chants echoed, the youth leaders left no doubt about their position: “Bryan Acheampong for flagbearer 2028, the unifier, the visionary, the deliverer.”
