Recalcitrant illegal miners who have been polluting the River Mansi at Ehyireso near Prestea had their activities disrupted this morning by an eight-member team of the Bogoso Blue Water Guards.
The task force chased the miners away and set ablaze the equipment they were using for their operations.
Speaking to Channel One News’ Akwasi Agyei Annim on Thursday, October 2, Allan Acheampong, leader of the Bogoso Blue Water Guards, said the team encountered the miners during their routine monitoring.
He explained that the illegal operators had mounted changfan machines on the river, but the guards managed to halt their operations.
