A powerful Ghanaian priest (komfo) has stirred reactions on social media after he opened up on why former priestess turned evangelist, Nana Agradaa, was jailed.
Controversial evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, was convicted by an Accra Circuit Court on July 3, 2025, and sentenced to 15 years in jail.
She was convicted on two charges of defrauding by false pretences and one charge of charlatanic advertisement.
Nana Agradaa’s imprisonment stemmed from a 2022 televised broadcast during which she falsely claimed to possess spiritual powers capable of doubling money.
Her advertisement led dozens of individuals to attend her church, the Heaven Way Champion’s International Ministry, holding varying sums of money to be doubled.
Following the service, a video went viral on social media of some individuals complaining about losing their money to the evangelist.
A police case was commenced and Nana Agradaa was placed on trial, culminating in her July 2025 sentencing.
After she was sentenced, police officers escorted her from the court to a police car parked nearby, ready to begin her jail term.
She is currently serving time in the Nsawam Prison in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
Powerful komfo speaks about Nana Agradaa’s imprisonment
In a video seen by YEN.com.gh on TikTok, Ghanaian priest Dr Blay opened up on Nana Agradaa’s arrest, trial, and imprisonment.
He said he had studied to be a priest just like Nana Agradaa did and knew everything she did in her trade.
Dr Blay broke down how priests interact with people who bring them valuable items for blessing, particularly gold.
Nana Agradaa was accused of taking gold from some people during her time as a priest and never returning it..
Dr Blay said priests use certain methods in their craft but Nana Agradaa, perhaps due to greed, used ‘rough tactics’ which made her a target and led to her eventual imprisonment.
