Armed robbers attack Kumasi-bound bus, rob 20 passengers at gunpoint

At least 20 passengers were robbed at gunpoint in a Sprinter bus with registration number GG 4181-16, which was traveling to Kumasi on the Sunyani road in the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, between Tweapease and Mfensi, near the Moments of Glory Prayer Army (MOGPA).

A passenger who was on board the bus and among those robbed said the armed men, numbering 5, blocked the road and ordered passengers to surrender their belongings, including money, mobile phones, and other valuables. No casualties have been reported, but the victims were left severely traumatised.

Residents and commuters have long complained about the deplorable state of that stretch of road, which they believe contributes to the increasing spate of robberies in the area.

Effah Samuel, one of the passengers, confirmed the incident to Citi News.
