Peter Boamah Otukonor is the Director for Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness
The government is set to officially launch the School Farm Initiative (SFI) at Kpedze Senior High School in the Ho West District of the Volta Region in the coming weeks.
This was revealed during a consultative meeting on the initiative held at St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School in Accra.
The initiative, which falls under the Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness, seeks to transform senior high schools across the country into vibrant hubs of food production, experiential learning, and agricultural innovation.

It is being implemented in partnership with the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), the Ghana Education Service (GES), and the National Service Authority (NSA).
Speaking at the consultative meeting, the Director for Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness, Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor, noted that the initiative is a game-changer for education and agriculture in Ghana.
The initiative will also equip thousands of students with hands-on skills in modern farming and agribusiness, thereby enhancing employability and entrepreneurship in a country where youth unemployment currently stands at 14.7 percent.
Dr Otokunor commended the President for his vision and leadership, describing him as the driving force behind the initiative.
“We are deeply grateful to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for his immense support in this mission to reset not only agriculture but also agro-education in Ghana,” he said.
The upcoming launch at Kpedze Senior High School is expected to mark the beginning of a new chapter in Ghana’s efforts to integrate agriculture into education, reduce dependency on food imports, and empower the youth with lifelong skills for national development.
